Why more time can mean more connection, more creativity, and photos that feel unmistakably like your family.
Let me start by saying this: I love mini and petite sessions.
They absolutely have their place. Sometimes you just need a handful of beautiful, updated family photos. Maybe your little ones do best in shorter bursts, your schedule is packed, or you simply want something quick and easy for holiday cards or a milestone.
But if you ask me what kind of session makes me the most excited creatively?
It’s a full session.
Not because we need an hour to take more photos—but because having that time allows us to create something entirely different.

A Full Session Gives Us Time to Settle In
One of the biggest differences between a mini session and a full family session is that we don’t have to rush into creating beautiful moments.
Kids can explore. Shy little ones can warm up to me. We can walk, talk, play, take breaks and let things unfold naturally.
And somewhere along the way, it stops feeling quite so much like a photoshoot.
That’s where some of my favorite images happen.
The silly giggles after Dad starts a ridiculous game. A toddler running down a trail with Mom and Dad chasing behind. Your youngest one reaching for your hand without being prompted. The quiet moments in between all the movement.
We have time to let your family simply be together.
We Can Turn Your Session Into an Experience
A full family session doesn’t have to mean meeting at a pretty field, standing together and smiling at the camera for an hour.
In fact, I’d rather it didn’t.
I want to know what your family loves to do together.
Maybe we take a nature walk and let your kids collect leaves and sticks along the way. Maybe we build a little fire and roast marshmallows. We could explore the shoreline, splash in the water, have a picnic, take a boat ride or spend the evening wandering somewhere meaningful to your family.
We can play games. Run. Snuggle. Explore.
Your session can feel like an adventure your kids actually get excited about.
Because the goal isn’t simply to photograph what your family looks like right now.
It’s to document what it feels like to be your family right now.

Your Session Can Actually Feel Like You
This is probably the biggest reason I’m so passionate about full sessions.
I don’t want every family who steps in front of my camera to end up with the exact same gallery in different outfits.
Your family has its own personality, relationships, traditions and quirks — and we can build your session around those things.
Before your session, we can dream a little.
What do your kids love? Where does your family feel most at home? What season of life are you in? What would make your photos feel like something only your family could have created?
Instead of trying to fit your family into a predetermined session, we can create the session around your family.

We Can Go All Out With Styling
Styling is another place where full sessions can really shine.
Rather than simply choosing outfits that coordinate, we can think about the entire vision — the location, season, colors, textures, movement and overall feeling we want the finished gallery to have.
I help my families style their sessions so everything feels cohesive without looking overly matched or staged. We can choose pieces that photograph beautifully while still feeling like you.
And because we’re creating the session together, styling becomes part of the storytelling rather than an afterthought.
There Is Room for the Unexpected
If you’ve ever tried to get young children to follow a perfectly planned timeline, you already know how that usually goes.
Full sessions give us breathing room.
If someone needs a snack, we can stop.
If your toddler discovers something fascinating on the ground, we can let them explore it.
If your kids suddenly invent a game, I’ll photograph it.
If we walk around the corner and discover gorgeous light, we can follow it.
We’re not racing against a 15- or 20-minute clock. We have the freedom to follow your kids’ lead and see where the evening takes us.
That flexibility is a huge part of my child-led, connection-focused approach to family photography.

Minis, Petites or Full Sessions: Which Is Right for You?
There isn’t one session type that’s right for every family or every season of life.
Mini sessions are wonderful when you want something quick and simple — a small collection of updated family photos without committing to a full experience.
Petite sessions give us a little more breathing room while still keeping things relatively short and sweet.
But full family sessions are where we get to tell a bigger story.
They’re for families who want more than the traditional everyone-look-at-the-camera photo. They’re for parents who want to remember personalities, relationships, movement and connection.
They’re for the family who wants to turn photos into an evening together.
And they’re for the mom who doesn’t just want to walk away with beautiful photos — she wants to look back at them years from now and remember exactly what this season of childhood felt like.

Childhood Deserves More Than the Same Old Photos
Childhood changes incredibly fast.
The way your toddler holds your hand. The way your kids make each other laugh. The games they want to play over and over. The way your little one still fits against your chest.
Those are the things I want to preserve.
So yes, we’ll get the beautiful family portrait.
But then let’s go explore.
Let’s roast marshmallows.
Let’s wander through the woods.
Let’s run barefoot through the grass.
Let’s take the boat out.
Let’s play the game your kids can’t stop talking about.
Let’s create something that couldn’t belong to anyone else.
Because your family isn’t the same as everyone else’s.
Your family photos shouldn’t be either.
